SAGES-training: Employability after a PhD - free places for Geoverbund ABC/J members

The Scottish Alliance of Geoscience, Environment & Society (SAGES) - network partner of Geoverbund ABC/J - is offering up to five places for Geoverbund ABC/J post-graduates at this autumn's SAGES Graduate School Retriet in Aviemore. This years’ focus is on enhancing employment skills after a PhD. It will also be a good opportunity for meeting SAGES students and enjoying some Highland hospitality! The course and accommodation is provided by SAGES whereas Geoverbund ABC/J students need to fund their own travel to and from Scotland.

The one-day training course will be held at the Macdonald Hotel, Aviemore on 29-30th November, 2017.

Historically, early career scientists have received little support for career development strategies. Peter and Martin from ‘Barefoot Thinking’ have worked extensively with early and mid-career scientists in the UK and North America since 2009. Through their Challenge of Science Leadership training programme they have come to understand the career challenges facing postgraduates and postdoctoral research fellows. The 1-day career strategy workshop aims at early career scientists. During the workshop participants will learn strategic thinking tools, receive support from the trainers and have valuable time to think.

In case you are interested in taking part, please contact Dr. Daniel Felten, head of coordintion office, until 30th September 2017 at the latest (limited number of free places available).
