HGF ADAPTER project

ADPTER is a Helmholtz Association (HGF) Initiative and Networking Fund project on knowledge transfer, dealing with the development of "innovative and simulation-based products for a weather- and climate- resilient agriculture".

ADAPTER is a cooperation between the FZJ Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (Agrosphere, IBG-3) and the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht. We generate innovative products based on simulations and predictions with the Terrestrial Systems Modelling Platform (TSMP) (IBG-3) and prototypical "climate products" (GERICS). The knowledge transfer takes place via a so-called practice network and a "digital product platform". Following the concept of a user-oriented science, which makes applicable information available for the practical actors, the concrete information needs of various key partners from agriculture define the actual project goals and the design of the products in the areas of optimized soil management and climate adaptation measures, including a citizen science approach, where farmers deploy soil moisture sensors, whose data is assimilated into TSMP.
